SEATTLE FRINGE FESTIVAL LOGO The 2000 Fringe Review Rag #4
Audition Antics
by the ReAct Gang
Repertory Actors Theatre

"A troupe of spirited young performers offer several contemporary scenes and monologues about the perils of auditions. The cutthroat nature of show biz is the theme of the piece, as actors are variously tricked and humiliated, even as they themselves resort to droll skullduggery in order to foil the competition and win the casting game. Although funny in spots, the material here is weak and vacant for the most part: both writing and performing seem to echo the most unsubtle TV sitcom styles, and there's not enough wit to cover up the severe lack of substance. For all that, the actors tackle their thankless roles with winning albeit unrefined and sometimes clumsy gusto. Kathy Hsieh and Bill Quinn stand out among the players." -Cranston Templar
