Richard Hugo House, March 23 - April 9, 2006: ReAct Theatre, Seattle's only Multi-ethnic Philanthropic Theatre Company opens its 2006 season with Michael Brady's heart-warming modern American classic, TO GILLIAN ON HER 37TH BIRTHDAY, the moving yet rarely produced theatrical gem.

Some love lasts a lifetime. Real love lasts forever. Nearing the second anniversary of Gillian's tragic death, the family gathers back at the beachhouse where widower David continues to seclude himself. Through the love, support and urging of those around him, he struggles to re-embrace life without Gillian in this charming, inspiring and wonderful family drama that celebrates love, loss and life.

TO GILLIAN ON HER 37TH BIRTHDAY originally opened in 1983 at New York's Ensemble Studio Theatre starring Gates McFadden and Sarah Jessica Parker which was followed by an Off-Broadway run at Circle in the Square. A cinematic film adaptation (with unfortunately little resemblance to the stage play) was produced in 1996 starring Peter Gallagher, Clare Danes and Michelle Pfeiffer. The University of Washington School of Drama presented a student production of TO GILLIAN ON HER 37TH BIRTHDAY in the spring of 1988, but this is reportedly the first major professional production to grace the Seattle stage.

TO GILLIAN ON HER 37TH BIRTHDAY runs from March 23 - April 9, 2006, opening on a Thursday night at 7:30pm, and playing Friday nights at 8:00pm, Saturdays at 2:00pm and 8:00pm with added shows on Sunday evenings at 7:30pm. All performances will be held at the Richard Hugo House located at 1634 Eleventh Avenue, just north of the corner of 11th and Pine in Seattle on Capitol Hill. Free parking is available throughout the neighborhood.

Ticket prices are $15 General Admission; $12 Students/Seniors/Military/Disabled; and $9 for Children, with a $3 discount when purchased in advance. Additionally, ReAct's first Saturday Matinee on March 25th is a "Pay-What-You-Can" performance. For more information and ticket reservations, please call the ReAct box office at (206) 364-3283 or visit online at www.reacttheatre.org. Advanced tickets are also available though the following outlets:
•Ticket Window: (206) 325-6500, www.ticketwindowonline.com, fax: (425)450-3839.
•Brown Paper Tickets: (800) 838-3006, www.brownpapertickets.com.
•Elliott Bay Book Company: (206) 624-6600 or (800) 962-5311.

Directed by ReAct's Artistic Director, David Hsieh, this new production of TO GILLIAN ON HER 37TH BIRTHDAY features a multi-ethnic cast of ReAct Company members: Leilani Berinobis, Casey Floresca, Roberta Furst, Kathy Hsieh, T.J. Langley, Matt Lovell and Colleen Parker. Lighting design is by Matthew Shannon, who also coincidentally worked backstage on the original New York production at EST. Sound design is by Maurice Smith, and the show is staged managed by Rachel Rene. TO GILLIAN ON HER 37TH BIRTHDAY is co-sponsored by the Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs, City of Seattle.

Established in 1993, ReAct strives to provide affordable quality entertainment using primarily non-traditional and multi-ethnic casting. Its purpose is to give artists of all backgrounds the opportunity to work on mainstream projects they might not normally have access to due to ethnicity, gender, age or experience. A federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit philanthropic company, ReAct also works to service our community by using its productions to raise money, awareness and supplies for other arts and humanitarian organizations. ReAct's production will benefit the Lifelong AIDS Alliance, Theatre Puget Sound and other charities, and a canned food drive will benefit Northwest Harvest.
