"David Henry Hwang's biographical play, Yellow Face made me laugh and it made us both wince and think, and we both thought 'this is one brave guy, to allow us to see his imperfections in such a splashy way.' And honestly that's only part of the reason to go and see Yellow Face, which gives a behind the scenes look at Hwang's involvement in protests around the casting of Jonathan Pryce as an Asian, in Broadway's Miss Saigon, in the nineties. It's simply a delight to watch, and Moses Yim, as Hwang is in fine form, as is the rest of the cast, in a variety of roles from Hwang's naive father (Henry Vu), to a passive/aggressive reporter who tries to stir up anti-Chinese sentiment with a series of salacious articles in the New York Times. It's also an interesting history lesson, as well as a sharp, and funny look at how race can become a force for change, as well as an impediment, when used for differing ends. Certainly one of Re-Act Theatre and Pork Filled Players best...this show is well worth a ticket for entertainment that'll stick with you after the actors leave the stage." —A.
